This year we are working on a number of Amnesty campaigns:
Individuals at Risk
We campaign on behalf of individuals at risk of grave human rights violations: prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, the "disappeared", unfair trials, torture.
Enforced Evictions
Every year hundreds of thousands of women, men and children are made homeless and destitute:
forced out of their homes and off their lands
with little notice or none at all
often with the threat or use of violence.
Tural Abbasli – Azerbaijan
We campaign on behalf of Tural Abbasli who is considered by Amnesty to be a prisoner of conscience , detained solely for peacefully exercising his fundamental rights.
He is one of 14 people currently imprisoned in connection with anti-government protests in early 2011 and considered by Amnesty to be prisoners of conscience.
Human Rights in Colombia
Colombia’s internal armed conflict leads to serious abuses by guerrillas and paramilitaries -- including massacres, forced displacement, sexual violence and use of child soldiers -- and to violations by the military.
Death Penalty
Campaign for the abolition of the death penalty - it brutalises society and kills innocent individuals who are wrongly convicted.
