Last week, blind Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng dramatically escaped from 19 months of illegal house arrest and fled to the US Embassy in Beijing. He is now understood to be in a hospital in the city with his family.
Right now, the future of Chen and his family hangs in the balance. Please send them a loud message of support and show the Chinese authorities that we will not go quiet until Chen and his family are safe.

Not enough guarantees from China
We know that the Chinese authorities guaranteed US officials that Chen could live a normal life in China in safety. Yet even as they were making those promises, they were detaining his associates and targeting his supporters.
“I don’t know what happened to my mother. There are guards inside the yard, in all the rooms, even on the roof. They’ve set up lots of cameras in my home and are preparing electric fences. They told my family they’d take wooden sticks and beat my family to death, so it’s very unsafe.” Chen Guangcheng, in an interview with NPR
If this is what the authorities do when the world is watching it is absolutely vital that we do not go quiet - things could get a lot worse.
