In May 2009 a group of legal academics in Beijing published a report on the government's handling of the unrest in Tibet in the spring of 2008.
What was the Chinese government's response? Did they take the report seriously and look into the failings of policy that led to so much dissent and disorder? Did they take the opportunity to learn from the research? No, of course not. They have instead closed down the legal centre that published the report and revoked the licences of many of the lawyers.
